Lips reduction (ปากห้อยต้องทำอย่างไร, which is the term in Thai) surgery is a cosmetic procedure used to reduce the size of the upper and/or lower lips. This procedure is often used to correct an uneven lip size and can also be used to update an overly wide or thick lip. Excess lip tissue is removed during the lips reduction, and the remaining tissue is then reshaped to create a symmetrical and balanced look.

The procedure is performed under local or general anesthesia and typically takes 1-2 hours. Recovery time varies depending on the extent of the surgery but typically takes about 1-2 weeks. Results are permanent and long-lasting, though the lips may change over time due to natural aging.

The Various Steps Involved In Lips Reduction Are:

    1. Consultation: Before undergoing lips reduction, it is important to consult with an experienced cosmetic surgeon to discuss the procedure, its risks, and its benefits.
    2. Local Anesthesia: During the lips reduction procedure, the patient will be given local anesthesia to numb the area being operated on.
    3. Reshaping: The surgeon will then make small incisions on the lips to reshape them and reduce their size.
    4. Sutures: Once the desired shape has been achieved, the surgeon will use sutures to close the incisions.
    5. Recovery: After the procedure, patients should avoid strenuous activities for several days and keep their lips clean and moisturized.
    6. Follow-Up: The patient should follow up with their doctor a week after the procedure to ensure the healing process is going smoothly.

    Advantages Of Lips Reduction

    • Improved Appearance: The lip reduction procedure can create a more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing appearance by reducing the size of one or both lips.
    • Improved Function: When the lips are too large, it cannot be easy to perform everyday activities such as speaking, eating, and smiling. A lip reduction can help improve these functions by making the lips more proportional to your facial features.
    • Improved Self-Confidence: Larger-than-average lips can be a source of insecurity. Lip reduction can help boost self-confidence by giving you a more balanced look.

Various Methods Of Lips Reduction Surgery Are:

    • Lip Augmentation: Lip augmentation is a procedure that adds volume and definition to the lips.
    • Liposuction: Liposuction is a procedure that removes fat from the lips. It can be done with either a traditional or laser-assisted liposuction technique.
    • Lip Repositioning: Lip repositioning is a surgical procedure that involves repositioning the lips to a more desirable position.
